I HAVE to say I feel quite sorry listening to George Lee following his surprise resignation from Fine Gael.
This is a man who was highly successful in his journalistic field and took a massive gamble jumping in to the world of politics, a world full of rivalries with people jostling for positions of power.
I don’t doubt the skills and expertise he could have brought to the party if given the chance. However, it seems he was blatantly used by Fine Gael to garner some initial column inches but was then cast aside by the party leadership.
This to me reflects badly on no one else but Enda Kenny. He is the leader of the party and he squandered any contributions Lee could have made to the party’s economic policies.
Fine Gael keeps telling us we need political change in this country, but it is ironic they are not open to change within the party themselves.
