Oh Rosenalee, I love you

Saturday, August 21, 2010

ONE local house sale is currently going through, and now another Endsleigh Park house comes up needing a new owner and some TLC.

The park is home to a large girls’ national school, and just before the summer holidays there was good viewing interest in a house there called Inishowen.

Now, as a new term is set to start, Inishowen is ‘sale agreed’ (via Kevin O’Sullivan Estates) for a sum likely to be in the mid-€400,000s – and now set to be a bit of a talking point by the school gates will be the arrival with a different agent of a similar sized four-bed detached, the do-er Rosenalee.

Estate agent Timothy Sullivan has the listing of the mid-1900s Rosenalee, in a very basic state and needing, he admits, considerable upgrading. He quotes an guide price of €425,000 as it hits the late summer market, and says the location is excellent, between Douglas and Cork city centre.

West-facing, looking towards the busy school gates, it has two reception rooms, one with large protruding bay window, a kitchen and slender kitchenette, pantry and cloaks closet, with a herringbone patterned parquet floored hall.

Overhead are two good double bedrooms, a smaller double, a single, and a basic bathroom.

Rosenalee has an attractive mature site, and an attached garage and new owners will look at extending as well as modernising. Gas central heating has already been installed, but buyers can expect to be looking at a fairly basic canvas (albeit with good bones) to work with.
