House in mature terrace escaped flood devastation

Saturday, August 28, 2010

Bridgemount, Western Road, Cork on the market for €345,000.

IT didn’t flood. To the massive credit of Bridgemount, on Cork’s Western Road, while all around it was hit by damning floods last November, houses in this mature terrace kept their feet dry.

Having survived the worst-ever flood to hit Cork city, and which devastated UCC property in front and behind, an extra few feet of slight elevation was the saving of this genteel inner-suburban row.

This Edwardian home is a bit of a polished gem, a cared-for family home of character, with two reception rooms, three bedrooms, proximity to UCC, Cork city centre, the Lee Fields and hospitals. Bridemount was first launched on the market a year ago, and then taken back off for some remedial works: it has been underpinned, with new work done on drains. Cohalan Downing seek offers of €345,000.
