Cleese to release World Cup ditty

British actor John Cleese has decided to release his own World Cup song in aid of this summer's German-hosted soccer championships.

The Life Of Brian star, who achieved comedy greatness with the sitcom Fawlty Towers, has taken inspiration from a scene from the infamous The Germans episode, which coined the catchphrase: "Don't mention the war."

The new England anthem is named Don't Mention the War and will be available for download ahead of the tournament's kick-off on 9 June.

He says: "It's a catchy tune. Hopefully you'll be hearing it on a football terrace near you, very, very soon."
