'Legion' too slow and low-budget

Director: Scott Stewart

Cast: Paul Bettany, Kate Wald, Dennis Quaid, Lucas Black

Cert: 16

In 'Legion', God finally arrives at the obvious conclusion … humankind is the pits and deserves a good, bloody kick up the rear end, sending Michael (Bettany) and a Host of Angels to do the kicking.

Alas, an encouraging, original idea – the avenging angels, meeting up at a remote desert diner, decide there is still some good left in humans and combine with them to sort God out – is thrown away by a dismally-weak script, low-budget effects and characters who must spend too much time sitting around explaining who they are and why they’re there.

For what is basically a zombie film with a twist there’s hardly any action and, thus, hardly any pace.

What becomes apparent is that the project was vastly under-funded to allow the director to salvage anything worth watching.

Star Rating: 2/5
