Irish ‘brogue’ helps Call Management secure British Cho Yung contract

Monday, February 15, 2010

CALL Management has been awarded a contract from British group Cho Yung, a company that sells weight-loss tea products from China over the internet.

The contract will create an additional 2,000 inbound calls per week and will generate €75,000 in additional revenue per annum.

Two new agents will be added to the 25 existing staff to deal with the demand.

Graham Clarke, business development manager with Cho Yung, said he was attracted to Call Management and was won over by the "Irish brogue".

When people ring Call Management they will find a pleasant Irish accent on the other end of the phone.

"This accent, I believe, will help to diffuse any situation that might arise and it will help with customer satisfaction."

Pat Keogh, managing director of Call Management, which was established in 2001, said the new deal will allow the group to create extra jobs.

"Our goal is to add to this over the coming years. It’s interesting that this particular contract was aided by the Irish accent."

He added that Irish people are "well renowned" for their good communication skills and quick wit.

"It is industries like the communications industry which are set to grow over the coming years, and I’m delighted that my team are part of that growth."

Based at Atrium, Blackpool Business Centre, Cork, Call Management handled over 250,000 inbound calls and made over 100,000 outbound calls last year.

"We are targeting a 25% growth rate in 2010 and so far the outlook is positive," said Mr Keogh.

Call Management’s clients include Galway City Council, Make-A-Wish Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland and DHL.
